It is hard to state exactly what an individual therapy session will look like as they are all so different. Our therapist uses a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques to aid each client in finding an individualized program that works for them. Typically, treatment plans are based in either Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and shaped to fit the needs of the individual. Sometimes this can look like working on handouts and journal entries, sometimes it can appear as just chatting on the couch, and sometimes it can even include games and art! It all depends on what works best for you or your child.

Therapy sessions typically occur weekly or every other week for 60 minutes. Both in-person and telemedicine appointments are available, though some interventions are difficult to utilize via telemedicine only. A therapy program begins with an initial session which takes from 60 to 90 minutes and allows the therapist and client to get to know each other and develop an initial history. The length of treatment depends on the goals the client is trying to achieve. If the client is trying to work past a certain event, it could take only 4-6 weeks, if a client is trying to develop a lasting life change it can continue as long as necessary. Therapy is not only about fixing problems and can be useful to anyone at any time!

Our therapist is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3pm to 9pm for both telemedicine and in-person. Saturday appointments may become available this summer. The cash pay rate for a 60min individual session is $150/hr. Imperfect Progress Counseling accepts United Healthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna insurance programs as well. A sliding scale can be negotiated in situations where appropriate. We want therapy to be available to anyone who needs it and are dedicated to finding a way to make that a reality.
